Traditional braces in Arlington, Commerce and Paris, TX

Braces remain one of the most reliable ways to straighten teeth and correct bite problems. Orthodontic care is provided by Dr. Ahn at our Arlington office and Dr. Janaki Khot at our Commerce and Paris offices.

About Traditional Braces

Traditional braces use small brackets bonded to the teeth and a wire that applies gentle, steady pressure. Over time, the teeth move into better positions. Elastics or other parts may be added to correct how the upper and lower teeth fit together.

Reasons for orthodontic treatment

  • Crowded or overlapping teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Overbite, underbite, crossbite or open bite
  • Teeth that are hard to clean because of their position
  • Jaw or bite problems found at a dental exam

The orthodontist examines your teeth, bite and jaw and takes records such as X-rays and photos.

  2. 2

    Treatment plan

You learn the expected length of treatment, the steps and a written estimate.

  3. 3

    Placing braces

Brackets are bonded to the teeth and the wire is attached. Mild soreness for a few days is common.

Frequently asked questions

How long do braces take?

Many cases take one to three years, depending on how much teeth need to move. Your orthodontist gives you an estimate at your consultation.

Do braces hurt?

Most people feel pressure and soreness for a few days after braces are placed or adjusted. Soft foods and over-the-counter pain relievers usually help.

Am I too old for braces?

Healthy teeth can be moved at any age. Many adults have orthodontic treatment.

Which offices offer braces?

Orthodontic care is offered at our Arlington office with Dr. Ahn and at our Commerce and Paris offices with Dr. Khot. Call to confirm current availability.

Are braces the same as "frenos"?

Yes. Many Spanish-speaking families call braces "frenos" or "frenos dentales." They are offered at our Arlington, Commerce and Paris offices, not at Grand Prairie.
